NEA shall advocate for the inclusion of Frederick Douglas', "What to the slave is the Fourth of July?" Oration is history and/or language arts classes.

Rationale/Background

NEA resolution I-50 mandates educators must acknowledge the existence of white supremacy culture is a root cause of institutional racism. Including Frederick Douglas' 1852 speech in the curriculum will advance this goal.
